one-to-one coaching

One-to-one sessions are, naturally, designed around the individual.

Here’s an illustration, with names changed, of a recent case:

After appointment to her new post in a small voluntary, Ali found there was more writing required than she expected. She wasn’t confident. Her  line manager felt that she needed more support. The manager called alt62, described the situation, agreed aims, a general approach and a fee.

Ali and alt62′s PJ White began a series of phone calls and email correspondence designed to identify and deal with particular blockages. Working with PJ  on an actual project from her workload, Ali developed an approach that she was happy with, practised key skills and grew in confidence.  After the agreed time working together, alt62 produced a report for Ali and her manager detailing what had been achieved.

Coaching can target specific writing concerns such as vagueness about grammar, punctuation or style. It can look more broadly at organisation and work management. It can deal with procrastination or perfectionism. Or it may look at a discrete area such as writing briefing papers or handling emails.

Meetings can be face-to-face, but many clients find that regular email and phone contact is more efficient.
